The Challenge
A dental health company needed to elevate the experience of two key digital products used by dentists and practice owners: a web-based diagnostic and communication tool for use during patient visits, and an admin portal for managing multi-clinic operations. Both applications suffered from outdated design, limited usability, and fragmented workflows.
The company wanted to modernize the user interfaces, streamline data input for dentists, enhance patient-facing outputs, and build scalable admin tools to support growing business operations. Additionally, they required development support to implement UI updates and rigorous QA testing to ensure a smooth rollout.
The Solution
Topcoder launched a series of design, development, and QA challenges to reimagine and upgrade both applications. The web-based communication tool was redesigned to improve how dentists log findings, annotate images, suggest treatments, and generate summaries and recommendations for patients. The new UI allowed fast annotation, visual tagging, and homecare tracking, optimized for desktop and patient-facing displays.
Concurrently, the admin portal was redesigned to give practice owners a clean, intuitive way to manage clinics, dentists, users, and asset libraries (procedures, products, findings). The dashboard UI included data visualizations and high-level practice metrics. Navigation and asset management workflows were simplified and standardized. After design, the Topcoder community implemented front-end updates for Android and iOS apps, integrated new admin web APIs, and created multiple web components to support input and display logic. QA bug hunts followed, ensuring a stable release across platforms.

The Impact
The customer received a complete redesign and implementation of critical user workflows for dentists and admins, boosting efficiency, usability, and communication.
